It is a required Standard by CMS, Condition of Coverage 416.52 (c) (3), that a patient must be discharged in the company of a responsible adult. This is not a mandate from Coastal Surgical Center, LLC, but a regulation by the Federal Government.
The CMS Standard reads as follows:
“The ASC must ensure all patients are discharged in the company of a responsible adult, except those patients exempted by the attending physician.”
