Coastal Surgical Center, LLC is an Ophthalmic Ambulatory Surgical Center located in beautiful Newington, NH 03801. We are privately owned by several ophthalmologists who also own the largest ophthalmology practices in the Seacoast region.

We have several openings for Registered Nursing and LNA staff who are interested in working in an ophthalmic environment. Cases include cataract surgery, retina surgery, glaucoma and oculoplastics.
Current openings:
RN – OPERATING ROOM
The Operating Room Nurse is responsible for assisting the surgeon during various ophthalmic operative procedures in the OR and may act as a scrub or First Assist. The circulating nurse will be responsible for the set-up of procedures and maintaining a safe patient environment throughout.
Education, Training, Experience:
- Currently licensed to practice nursing in the state.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Membership in state, local or national organizations ideal
- BLS and ACLS required, if not currently ACLS certified, certification must be obtained within 90 days of date of hire.
- A minimum of two years experience as an OR Nurse
- Knowledge of electronic medical records systems.
PERIOPERATIVE NURSE
The perioperative nurse prepares and cares for pre and post operative patients. This candidate works closely with patients and families by providing instructions and care both prior to, as well as after, surgical procedures involving cataracts, retina, glaucoma and oculoplastics.
Education, Training, Experience:
- Current Nurse Licensure (RN ) with the State of New Hampshire.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- 1-2 years of experience in a hospital, ASC or physicians office; specialty of ophthalmology ideal
- One-year Pre-operative experience preferred.
- BLS is required.
- Experience in Electronic Medical Records Systems.
LICENSED NURSING ASSISTANT
An exciting and unique opportunity to assist with patient admission and recovery during various ophthalmic surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Initiate and complete eye drops and other medications and demonstrate knowledge of drug usage, their actions and side effects, interaction with anesthesia agents and expected patient outcomes
- Ensure patient meets admit requirements before patient goes in for surgery.
- Restock supplies/equipment and check medications for expiration dates to maintain adequate levels for patient care.
- Demonstrate continued competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
- Review all discharge instructions with patient and families and provide discharge paperwork.
- Work with anesthetist and surgeon and report any variance in post-operative recovery.
- Provide pre-procedure care to the patient according to assignment and complete pre-op call to assess the physical and emotional status of the pre-procedure patient during the pre-op calls.
- Obtain current information on patients within the electronic medical record system.
SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST
- The Surgical Technologist will assist with between 10-15 cases per day by preparing the operative suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments
- Ensure that surgical asepsis is maintained in the handling of instruments and various ophthalmic supplies
- Assist in the turnover of the operating room suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning of equipment and environmental surfaces
- Prepare procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, “pulling cases” accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available
Qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (preferred)
- Surgical Tech Certification
- Valid BCLS Certification upon employment
